Brest school principal fired for posting real results of 2020 election

Director of Brest Gymnasium #4 Alena Shkulepa, who was head of two election commissions during the presidential election in 2020, has been dismissed, while her deputies were demoted to ordinary teachers, Novy Chas newspaper reports.

At the end of August 9, polling stations # 37 and # 38 posted the protocols showing that Svyatlana Tsikhanouskaya had won the election. The number of the votes at polling station #37 was 543:524, and at polling station #38, they were 510:380 in favor of Tsikhanouskaya.

According to the newspaper, even before New Year 2022, a rumor spread among the teachers that the principal and all the deputies, who were also in the election commission and signed this protocol, would be dismissed. They were allegedly fired, warning that they wouldn’t find jobs in Brest.

A week later, the director was dismissed, and Dziyana Basalay was appointed to her position. The two deputies of Shkulepa were not fired but demoted to the rank-and-file teachers.

Shkulepa confirmed her dismissal to the Novy Chas. When the journalist asked if she was told that she wouldn’t find a job in Brest, she answered: “They didn’t say it directly, but I felt it was true.”
