More than 10 people detained in Minsk on 13 March, including artist Lizaveta Hancharova


On the morning of March 13, Minsk riot police detained “two groups of protesting citizens” in Mirashnichenka Street, reported Minsk city executive committee.

According to the police, an action was planned there with participants putting up leaflets with photos of political prisoners.

“Five women who had taken part in the action were detained during the sweep of the area. They had various leaflets on them. The women’s age range is 25-40 years old, three of them have already been previously prosecuted for participation in unsanctioned public events,” reports the police department.

In addition to women, five more people, picketing with WRW-flags in front of the administration building in Tsantralny district of Minsk, were detained. The police say that the detainees were members of a local chat room, where they “agreed to hold unsanctioned public events and discussed the order of their actions. Four of the detainees were residents of Maskouski district of the capital, while another man had specifically arrived in Minsk from Dziarzhynski district.

Also, on March 13, artist Lizaveta Hancharova was detained in Minsk. The telegram channel BY_culture reports that she was detained along with her father.
