IOC investigating repression of Belarusian skiers

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is investigating the non-admission of Belarusian skiers Darya Dalidovich and Svyatlana Andryiuk to international competitions, including the Olympics 2022.

“We are in active contact with the Belarusian side to get a complete picture of the situation,” the Belarusian Foundation for Sports Solidarity quoted representatives of the IOC.

The Sports Solidarity Fund has appealed to the International Ski Federation to consider the case of discrimination against athletes Svyatlana Andryiuk and Darya Dalidovich. They claim that in December 2021, the Belarusian Ski Union deactivated their unique identification numbers, necessary for participation in the competitions.

The skiers say it was done for political reasons at the behest of the head of the Belarusian Ski Racing Federation, Alyaksandr Darakhovich, who demanded their participation in international competitions and training camps be banned.
