Blogger Andrey Kabanau released from remand prison


Minsk blogger and activist Andrey Kabanau was released from Zhodzina remand prison, he said on January 13 on Facebook.

According to the blogger, he ‘is at home and he is fine’.

Andrey Kabanau was detained on August 16 and charged under Part 1 of Article 328 of the Criminal Code (‘possession of drugs’). In September, he had a heart attack in the remand prison.

As reported earlier, today Yuliya Charnyauskaya, a Belarusian cultural studies scholar and the widow of popular Belarusian news portal TUT.BY founder Yury Zisser, has been released from house arrest. She has not been allowed to leave her flat for nearly nine months.
