Hleb Koipish, director of the Hrodna web studio “Ikvadart” and a political prisoner, has been sentenced to two years of freedom restriction. He will be at large until December 16. Then he will be sent to serve his sentence. It’s still unknown where he will be sent to.
The trial over the Hrodna citizen began on November 24. Hleb was accused under Article 342 (“Organization or active participation in group actions, grossly violating public order”). The sentence was announced on December 9, but the information has just appeared.
On August 25, law enforcers raided the office of the web studio “Ikvadart” and brutally detained Hleb Koipish. He was declared a political prisoner.
Hleb is 35 years old. He has implemented many socially essential projects with his studio and developed websites for museums and applications in the Belarusian language for free. On the evening of August 10, 2020 he was beaten by the law enforcers in one of the streets of Hrodna and had to go to the trauma center. His attempt to have a over the beating was rejected.
The “Ikvadart” studio has been around since 2004 and is among the top 10 best web studios in Belarus.
