Russian court extends arrest of Yana Pinchuk until April 30


A St. Petersburg court has extended the arrest period for the 24-year-old Belarusian Yana Pinchuk until April 30, reports Mediazona referring to Yuliya Dunayeva, the girl’s lawyer.

The Vitsebsk girl was arrested on November 1 in her apartment at the request of the Belarusian authorities. On December 8, the Investigative Committee of Belarus sent the documents for her extradition to the Russian law enforcement agencies.

According to the Investigative Committee, from September 2020 to November 2021, Yana Pinchuk was the administrator of three Telegram channels, including those recognized as “extremist.”

The girl is charged under five articles for slander (Article 188 of the Criminal Code), inciting social hatred and enmity (Article 130 of the Criminal Code), illegal actions with personal data of another person (Article 203), creation and management of an extremist formation (parts 1 and 2 of Article 361, calls for action against national security (part 3 of the Article 361).

Pinchuk applied for refugee status in Russia after her detention. However, according to the court, this does not give grounds not to extend her arrest.
