Svyatlana Tsikhanouskaya urged to show solidarity with courageous Belarusian women

Svyatlana Tsikhanouskaya recently declared July 16 as the Day of Solidarity with the Belarusian women, “who have become not only a symbol but also a driver of the Belarusian revolution.”

The date was not chosen by chance. Exactly on July 16, 2020, Svyatlana Tsikhanouskaya, together with Maryia Kalesnikava and Veranika Tsapkala, “needed just 15 minutes to decide to unite the headquarters of the three presidential campaigns.”

“Together, we stood for change, a democratic future, and freedom – like millions of Belarusians. Many of them are imprisoned by the regime: Maryia Kalesnikava, chief editor of TUT.by Maryna Zolatava, journalists Darya Chultsova and Katsyaryna Andreyeva, activist Antanina Kanavalava, mother of many children Volha Zalatar. But the whole world admires them. And the world admires all the Belarusians, who in August started to march in white clothes and flowers – against the endless violence to which Belarusians have been subjected,” says Tsikhanouskaya in her statement.

She has declared July 16 as the Day of Solidarity with the Belarusian women and has called to show solidarity.

Svyatlana Tsikhanouskaya suggests several ways to show solidarity with the brave Belarusian women:

  • To go out on pickets of solidarity with Belarusian women with portraits of political prisoners, to demand new elections and an end to violence and torture;
  • make statements and adopt resolutions in support of Belarus, hold events with the participation of politicians and famous personalities
  • to support virtual actions of solidarity: post videos, pictures, posts with the words of solidarity.
  • Write letters to women political prisoners, take patronage, help mothers and wives of political prisoners;
  • Record videos, reading out letters to women in detention;
  • Support Belarusian women through solidarity foundations that assist political prisoners and their families.
