Journalist Alyaksandr Ivulin charged


Alyaksandr Ivulin, the journalist of “Tribuna,” author of the channel “ChestnOK” and player of the football club “Krumkachy,” has been charged under part 1 of article 342 of the Criminal Code (“Organization and preparation of actions that grossly violate public order”). He will be selected a preventive measure within a day, reports the publication “Tribuna.”

Journalist and athlete Alyaksandr Ivulin was detained, along with the editor of the project “ChestnOK” Yaraslau Pisarenka, on 3 June. They were taken from the apartment by unknown persons in plain clothes. The next day it was reported that Ivulin was sentenced to 30 days in jail for allegedly putting a flag in the window.

On July 3, Alyaksandr was released, but he was transferred from the TDF to the detention center. Later it was reported that the journalist was charged under Art. 342 of the Criminal Code (“Organization and preparation of actions that grossly violate public order, or active participation in them”). The maximum punishment under the article is three years in jail.

On 5 July, Alyaksandr Ivulin was declared a political prisoner.
