Video cameraman Fralou sentenced to jail and fined for 'illegal journalistic activities'

On 7 May, Hrodna freelance videographer Andrei Fralou was tried in Lida. He was sentenced to 15 days in jail and fined 870 BYN. Police also confiscated a flash drive with videos he had made.

Andrei Fralou was tried under Part 3 Article 23.5 of the Administrative Code (“Illegal production and (or) distribution of media products”) and Article 24.3 (“Disobedience to the lawful demand of an official”).

On Tuesday, Fralou was in the detention center in Lida, where he had been taken after his detention in Byarzauka. He was not given the parcel.

Andrei Fralou cooperates with media outlets, including TVP Polonia, as a freelancer. He had been detained more than once.
