Lukashenka wants to arm Emergency Situations staff

Lukashenka has issued instructions to identify EMERCOM officers who will be weapons trained and join the security forces.

“All employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, especially under the current minister, want to be a power unit. The enforcers, that’s what we consider them,” Lukashenka said.

Minister of Emergency Situations of Belarus Vadzim Sinyauski readily said a firm “yes” to such an initiative of Lukashenka. In case of an armed conflict, the authorities plan to involve the security forces and the military.
