Alyaksandr Vasilevich was charged under Part 2 Article 243 of the Criminal Code (“evasion of taxes and fees”). Judge Maryna Fyodarava passed a sentence of three years in a general regime penal colony. However, Vasilevich was released in the courtroom in connection with the expiry of his prosecution term.

Vasilevich spent one year, five months, and eight days in the detention center. The businessman was detained on July 28, 2020, when he came to the KGB to file a petition to change the preventive measure for Viktar Babaryka.

At the end of August 2020, officers of the Financial Investigations Department of the State Control Committee conducted searches in the office of the Vondel/Hepta agency, which Vasilevich owns. The search was also conducted at his home, after which the businessman was taken in for questioning.

The criminal case against Vasilevich was considered behind closed doors at the prosecutor’s request.
