Human rights activist and coordinator of the volunteer service “Viasna” Marfa Rabkova has been in the pre-detention center for eight months. She was recently placed on the preventive list as a person “prone to extremism,” the HRC Viasna reports.

According to human rights activist Tatsyana Hatsura-Yavorskaya, on March 25, Marfa Rabkova, along with her cellmates, celebrated Freedom Day by wearing white clothes and wearing white-red-white paper flowers in her hair. After that, the cell was disbanded, and the two girls were placed in an isolation cell for 5 and 10 days.

Marfa Rabkova was detained on September 17, 2020. She is charged under Part 3 of Article 293 (“Training or other preparation of persons to participate in mass riots, or financing such activity”), Part 3 of Article 130 (“inciting social hatred against the authorities by a group of unidentified persons”) and Part 2 of Article 285 (“Participation in a criminal organization”) of the Criminal Code. The human rights activist faces up to 12 years in prison.
