U.S. Ambassador to Belarus visits Belsat


On February 2, Belsat director Agnieszka Romaszewska-Guzy and other representatives of the TV channel met with Julie Fisher, who was appointed U.S. ambassador to Belarus. The meeting took place in Warsaw.

The American diplomat also met with representatives of the Polish government and Belarusian civil society.

Donald Trump appointed Julie Fisher as U.S. ambassador to Belarus in April 2020. Previously, she served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs at the Department of State.

On December 16, 2020, the United States Senate confirmed her candidacy as ambassador.

On July 20, 2020, Alyaksandr Lukashenka appointed Aleh Krauchanka, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, as Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to the United States. The diplomat died suddenly on December 25, 2020. He never travelled to Washington and take up his new post.

There have been neither U.S. ambassador to Belarus, nor the Belarusian ambassador to the United States since 2008.
