Belsat invites to the TVP World Conference Warsaw

TVP World will host its inaugural TVP World Conference Warsaw at the Belweder Palace, Warsaw, on Friday, December 9, 2022. The theme of the event is ‘Regional Threats, Global Shifts.’ The conference brings together an international roster of experts, observers, and analysts to discuss and debate pressing regional concerns in Europe, Ukraine, Russia, and Asia, and examine their potential global repercussions.

The TVP World Conference Warsaw comprises two regional panels. The first, titled Ukraine: Hybrid Warfare and the Aftermath of Feb. 24 in Europe will explore a range of issues surrounding the Russian invasion of Ukraine, from hybrid warfare and propaganda to ‘Westsplaining and potential new alliances on the European continent. Guest speakers Grigol Julukhidze, Christian Borys, Kyiv Independent senior editor Oleksiy Sorokin, Lord Maurice Glasman and David Engels will discuss the Eastern European experience of hybrid warfare and answer the questions: How have EU countries and societies responded to the Russian threat and how will the trajectories of these changes be impacted by the aftermath of February 24?

In the second panel, titled The Authoritarian Threat and Asian Maritime Tensions, guests Matt Schrader, Piotr Kłodkowski, Vida Mačikėnaitė, and Raigardas Boruta will discuss the potential threats stemming from the West’s economic entanglement with East Asia amid surging authoritarianism and regional instability — from supply-chain disruptions and rising expansionism in the Pacific, to the risks of relying on telecommunications equipment manufactured in non-democratic countries. The attendees of the TVP World Conference Warsaw will include high-ranking Polish officials, diplomats, academics, members of the media, and regional observers and analysts.

TVP World is Central and Eastern Europe’s No. 1 English-language news channel. Launched in November 2021 amid the crisis engineered as part of a hybrid warfare campaign on Poland and Lithuania’s eastern borders, TVP World has since established itself as a leader in covering Russia’s war against Ukraine. As a public broadcaster based in Warsaw, Poland, its mission is to provide the region and the world with a Central and Eastern European perspective on international news and events.

TVP World brings together an international array of experts, analysts, academics, and commentators to expand and enrich the public debate on today’s major regional issues and their broader, often global, repercussions.

The conference is organized with the media patronage of Belsat TV, which also produces a weekly review of events from the region entitled Eastern Europe Review for TVP World.
