EU expands economic sanctions against Lukashenka's regime


The new sanctions were imposed for “the participation of Belarus in Russia’s aggression against Ukraine,” reports Radio Liberty.

The sanctions against Lukashenka’s regime include additional restrictions on trade in goods used to produce tobacco goods, mineral fuels, bituminous substances, gaseous hydrocarbon products, potash products, wood products, cement, iron and steel, rubber products.

The EU is also expanding restrictions on the supply of goods and technologies of dual-purpose and related services to Belarus and conditions on the export of goods and technologies that could contribute to the development of military, technological, and defense security in Belarus.

Belarus will also face restrictions on the provision of related services.

On February 28, personal sanctions were imposed by Australia against officials and military officers involved in the attack on Ukraine. The list included 13 people, according to the press service of the Australian government.

And on February 26, the European Union officially published a sanctions list against Russians involved in the invasion of Ukraine. The restrictions also affected Belarusian officials and military officers.
