Russian journo involved in investigating Petrov-Boshirov case flees country - media


Sergei Kanev, a former journalist of the Investigations Management Centre (TSUR), was forced to flee Russia on September, 28, online media outlet The Project reports with reference to its source close to businessman Mikhail Khodorkovsky, two former TSUR employees and Kanev’s colleague at MBKh Media.

In a recent interview with TV channel Dozhd (Rain), Mikhail Khodorkovsky revealed that one of his employees had been taken out of Russia. According to him, a provocation was to be staged: the journalist could have been accused of planning an attack on president Vladimir Putin.

Kanev got information that that he might be credited with an attempt to figure out the route of Putin’s motorcade.

Now Sergei Kanev is in one of the Baltic countries, a source told The Project. The fact of the journalist’s moving was confirmed by a human rights activist who works in this country.

Kanev feared of criminal proceedings over his participation in the journalistic investigation into the case of Petrov and Boshirov-Chepiga, alleged poisoners of the Skripals, MBKh Media reported.

On July 30, Russian journalist Orkhan Dzhemal, director Alexander Rastorguyev and cameraman Kirill Radchenko were killed in the Central African Republic. They arrived in the country to make a documentary about the local activity of Wagner private military company which is closely linked to the Kremlin officials. The killed closely cooperated with the Investigations Management Centre (TSUR).
