“Pyatrukhin and Astapuk will be tried, we filed an appeal asking for more information about the trials. The detention centre officers also refused to accept a food parcel for Pyatrukhin, and we have written a complaint,” human rights activist Raman Kislyak told Belsat.

On September 30, about 100 persons took part in a rally protesting against the construction of iPower battery plant in Brest. The two men’s wearing the T-shirts with emblems of the protest might have become the reason for the detention.

The Chinese company is building the battery plant which will produce lead-acid batteries at a rapid pace. Its work may cause severe damage to human health due to lead emissions within a radius of 30 kilometers. Lead dust from production may provoke many serious diseases, including cancer.
