From January 1, foreign tourists will be able to stay in separate areas of the Brest and Hrodna regions for up to 10 days, according to the decree signed by Alyaksandr Lukashenka on December 26.
Based on the document, these territories will have the number of checkpoints for visa-free entry increased at the expense of checkpoints located at railway stations and airports. In addition to the length of stay, the territory for visits will also be expanded.
Tourists of the ‘Auhustouski’ canal will be allowed to stay in the territory of Hrodna and the entire Hrodna region, and visitors to the National Park “Belavezhskaya Pushcha” will be able to stay at the territory of the ‘Brest’ tourist and recreational zone.
Changes will apply to the citizens of 77 countries.
The authorities hope that such measures will increase the tourist flow and export of tourist services in the regions by 30%.
On February 12, 2017, a five-day visa-free regime for citizens of 80 countries was launched in Belarus. Only those who arrive at the Minsk airport can take advantage of this opportunity. This year, about 80 thousand tourists have arrived in Belarus on a visa-free basis.
