Man from Belarus gets emotional talking about 'Zapad-2017' drill

A resident of Hlubokaye became emotional when he was asked about the necessity for the joint Belarusian-Russian military exercise.

A resident of the small town said that the drill like this “should definitely take place” and explained why:

“So that we don’t care about some things. You know, I am the Soviet Union. Independence is sacred for the state… There are NATO tanks already on the Lithuanian territory, which my father drove away in 1945. Please, understand that what we also need here is Vitsebsk and Pskov division, so that people knew what the Republic of Belarus is! Not a single Belarusian has ever backed down and was a traitor. We are not “Ukrainians” who are nationalists, we did have collaborationists, but we managed to kick them out by 1947. Not a single Belarusian man has died for the head of Belarus anywhere. He should be given a monument.”
