State Duma speaker: Sanctions against Russia, Belarus caused by ‘genetic aversion’ to Slavs

Vyacheslav Volodin

The sanctions policy towards Russian and Belarusian authorities  may be caused by the Wests’s ‘genetic aversion’ to Slavs, Russia’s State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin believes.

“This is beginning to cross some line of reason. One can suspect those who are behind these sanctions of waging a fight against the Slavs,” Volodin told news agency Interfax.

According to the chairman of the State Duma, in this case one can talk about a ‘pathological animus’ to the Slavic peoples.

“We have already experienced such things. I would not like to make allegations, but the [current] situation triggers some suggestions,” said Volodin.

When asked about the reasons for such an attitude, the politician said:

“I have no idea. Because there has been no reason for that. It is them who should explain why  they have a genetic aversion to Slavs!”

As reported before, U.S. president Donald Trump has extended sanctions against Alyaksandr Lukashenka and several Belarusian officials for a year.
