Cyberwar between Russia and US. Moscow preparing for counter-attack

The United States plans to hold an unprecedented “secret” operation against Russia in response to the Russian intervention in the American electoral process, NBC television network reports, citing sources in the US intelligence community.

US Vice President Joe Biden said in an interview with ‘Meet the Press’ program, that the White House is giving a signal to Putin.

Representatives of WikiLeaks doubt that Washington will conduct a cyber attack.

“If the ‘secret’ cyber war against Russia was serious, they would not announce it; secondly, it would be the NSA (National Security Agency – belsat.eu.), and not the CIA,” writes the WikiLeaks in its Twitter.

Commenting on US threats to hold cyber attack against Russia, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushako has promised that there would be a reaction from the Kremlin, ria.ru reports.

“Obviously, we will(respond). It is already on the verge of rudeness. Especially they are mentioning specific representatives of the Russian leadership,” the official said.

In the summer it became known about hacking of the Democratic National Committee server, as well as the party committee for elections to the Congress. Democrats suggested that the attack was made by the Russian hackers, and thus Moscow was trying to influence the outcome of the voting.

On October 7, the US Department of Homeland Security accused the Russian authorities of involvement in the hack.

“We believe that, based on the volume and the secrecy of these efforts, only senior officials of the Russian government could authorize these activities,” said the agency in a statement.

A spokesman for the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, called the attempts to impose on Russia responsibility for cyber attacks absurd.
