Belarus presents new Caiman Light Armoured Reconnaissance Vehicle

The Belarusian state military industry committee has posted a video of test-driving the up-to-date armoured vehicle made in Belarus.

The vehicle was developed at the 140th Repair Plant. Caiman weighs seven tons (with six crew members and weapons), its top speed is 110 kilometers per hour. It is based on the chassis of Soviet-made BRDM-2 but with many improvements: the original turret is removed and there is two hatches on the top of crew compartment and one door on each side of the hull.

Caiman has a diesel engine D-245 with electronic fuel control and reinforced five-speed manual transmission.

The vehicle is designated for reconnaissance, subversive, peacekeeping and police operations, patrolling and guarding transports columns.
