On October 18, Vyachaslau Arlouski, the head of the notorious GUBAZiK/GUBOPiK (Main Department for Combatting Organised Crime and Corruption) came up with a proposal to add some clauses to this year’s amendments to the law on citizenship. The amendments came into force in June.

Belarusian lawmakers are expected to consider amendments to the law on citizenship at the spring session of the House of Representatives, state-run news agency BelTA reports.

The Russian authorities are working on easing the process of obtaining Russian citizenship by, among others, Belarusian nationals, the newspaper Izvestia reports with reference to Valentina Kazakova, Head of the Migration Department of Russia’s Interior Ministry.
