The reason being the suspension of BT membership in the European Broadcasting Union

On June 30, the Executive Board of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) officially suspended the membership of pro-Lukashenka Belarusian TV and Radio Company (BTRC) in the union, EBU’s press service told TUT.BY.

“We are ready to take any broadcasts of sports events that they want to give us.”

On Thursday afternoon. the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has released a statement regarding Belarus’ Eurovision Song Contest entry.

Their songs mock the protests.

BT, ONT and STV are the three main national channels that have long served as a propaganda tool of the Belarusian authorities. It is difficult to say what is happening inside the TV stations, but one thing is known: supported by daily pickets, numerous ONT and BT employees began to speak out loud about the need to provide true coverage of the events in the country.

We spoke to people who have already resigned from the Belarusians State TV and Radio Company or are planning to. They described how their professional protest ended, and who is still working for the state television company.

On Monday morning, several hundred employees and picketers have gathered in front of the office of the Belarusian State and Radio Company (BT) in Minsk. A number of people working for state-run TV stations ONT and CTV are also on strike.

On Saturdey evening, hundreds of people gathered at the building of the Belarusian TV and Radio Company (BT) in Minsk. It is the seventh day in a row that Belarusians have taken to the streets to protest against vote rigging and police abuse.
