The reason being the suspension of BT membership in the European Broadcasting Union

At Friday’s meeting, the Executive Board of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) agreed to suspend the Belarusian TV and Radio Company’s membership in the union, the organisation says on its official website.

A letter was sent to the office of the European Broadcasting Union in Geneva.

The March of Honour is to kick off at 2 pm on October, 11.

On Monday morning, several hundred employees and picketers have gathered in front of the office of the Belarusian State and Radio Company (BT) in Minsk. A number of people working for state-run TV stations ONT and CTV are also on strike.

A new TV station may start broadcasting in Belarus soon, Information Minister Alyaksandr Karlyukevich said in the wake of Tuesday’s meeting of President Lukashenka with representatives of state-run mass media.
