Yury Bandarenka, Headmaster of Minsk-based gymnasium school No 4 with the Belarusian language of instruction, was arrested at the workplace on Thursday.
His office was searched by persons who are allegedly KGB officers; two secretaries and the deputy head teacher were arresting witnesses.
The reasons for his arrest and search were not reported. Five people in civvies took away papers from Bandarenka’s office – ‘only those in which something was written by his own hand, not printed ones’, sources say.
Yury Bandarenka has been Headmaster since 1997. He has 45-year teaching experience. There has been no official information about the arrest yet. However, some representatives of the educational institution link it with economic activities or school enrolment.
