Petition against decree on parasites gets almost 6K signatures in two days

Never has a single problem attracted so much attention of Belarusians as the decree on parasites. Not a single initiative has collected so many signatures at zvarot.by before.

The collection of signatures started on January 17 by the Belarusian Trade Union of Radio Electronic Industry Workers (REP), which calls on citizens to support an appeal to Lukashenka to abolish the controversial decree.

A REP activist Andrei Stryzhak said that the decree on parasites introduces a new form of forced labor under the threat of punishment.

“The decree is not only against the Constitution of Belarus and international treaties, but it also manipulates terms, distorts the real situation and intentionally deceives people about their non-participation in the financing of public expenditure. The decree on parasites is a discrimination against vulnerable groups, forced labor, it contributs to the criminalization of society and poverty. It must be repealed. We do not ask, we demand. This is a clear signal from the public that the public will not have it,” says Andrei Stryzhak.
