Young Belarusian programmer wins 'Yandex. Algorithm' for fourth time


The competition final involved 25 programmers. The athletes had 2.5 hours to find solutions to 6 tasks. First place went to Henadz Karatkevitch.

The man has won the first place for three consecutive years: in 2013, 2014, and 2015.

Karatkevich occupies the first place in the CodeForces ranking of sports programmers.

Winners will receive money: 300 thousand Russian rubles ($ 5,000) for the first place, 150 thousand — for the second, and 90 thousand — for the third.

Applications for participation in the Algorithm were filed by 4,840 people. More than 60% of them are Russians, yandex.ru reports.

Bloomberg called the Belarusian man a superstar in sports programming.

Henadz was born in Homiel in the family of programmers. He is now studying at the Information Technology and Programming Department of the Saint- Petersburg University. According to his parents, Henadz sat at the computer at the age of five.

Henadz has already won numerous prestigious international competitions, including the Google competition.
