Who will be new State Secretary of Security Council?

Alyaksandr Myazhuyeu has been dismissed by Alyaksandr Lukashenka from the post of the Secretary of the Security Council at his own request for family reasons.

This was reported by the press service of the Belarusian leader.

Alyaksandr Myazhuyeu was born in Lyakhavichy in 1959. He received higher education outside Belarus – he graduated from the Kiev Higher Military Command School, Frunze Military Academy in Moscow, the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in Moscow. He has the rank of Major General.

It is still unknown who will take the place of Mr Myazhuyeu. According to Nasha Niva, a number of people can be appointed to this post:

  • Andrei Utsyuryn – Myazhuyeu’s deputy in the Security Council. He has long headed the Presidential Security Service. Born in Russia, he was formed as a person in Belarus.
  • Ihar Rachkouski – former head of the Border Committee, who lost his post after the “teddy bear landing.” For being friends with Lukashenka’s son, Mr Rachkouski was considered the most promising security forces official, but he lost his job after the “Swedish bear bomber.” He currently runs the Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation. But this post is not good enough for an ambitious official, says the publication.

  • Vasil Alyakseyenka is a Deputy of the House of Representatives. In recent years, Mr Lukashenka has repeatedly used people from the Parliament, and this is where he saw Mr Myazhuyeu. The 58-year-old Mr Alyakseyenka has been linked internal troops.
  • We should not exclude, according to the article, that the State Secretary of the Security Council may be taken by head of the KGB Valer Vakulchyk or Interior Minister Ihar Shunevich, or even Viktar Lukashenka.
