‘Where do people leave?’ Lukashenka concerned about reduction of employed persons

New jobs are created only on paper in Belarus, president Alyaksandr Lukashenka said at Tuesday’s meeting.

“As far back as last year, we agreed that one new highly-productive job would need to be created insted of one reduced job. But our companies still continue to fire more people than they hire. At least, according to information I got. What is going on?” he asked the ministers.

The Belarusian leader expressed a deep concern about enterprises and companies that are being closed down.

“Where do people leave? On paper, new jobs seem to be created, and but in fact, it is a fair swindle. If this is not so, I would like to hear the answer to this question. To the best of my knowledge, the number of the employed in the economy is falling,” he stressed.

As reported in March, Alyaksandr Lukashenka ordered to provide all employable Belarusians with jobs to May 1.
