Western partners rarely visit Belarus in fear of being used in propaganda - FM Makey

On Monday the Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs met with OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier and OSCE ODIHR Director Michael Georg Link. During the meeting Uladzimir Makey explained why European and U.S. top officials failed to visit our country.

“At some stage, the European and American partners were wary of any visits to Belarus. They thought that the authorities were using these visits for propaganda purposes to show that our country was not limited in contacts,” the Minister told news agency BelaPAN.

“We have no intention of using this visit to achieve political goals or get any political dividends,” Makey stressed.

The OSCE delegation participated in a meeting of working subgroups to resolve the conflict in the east of Ukraine, which took place in the President Hotel in Minsk.
