U.S. 'tankbusters' to home at Estonian air base

At least part of A-10 attack planes which the United States promised to send to Europe will be deployed at the Estonian Amari air base in Estonia.

Estonian Air Force commander Jaak Tarien said on Facebook on Sunday evening that the planes were to arrive on Monday: “The logistics is in place, Warthogs will be here on Monday.”

Last Friday the U.S. confirmed that 12 attack planes would be deployed in Europe, but did not specify where.

On Wednesday one of the largest transport aircraft in the world, a C-5M Super Galaxy of the U.S. Air Force, landed at the Estonian Amari air base. The aircraft arrived in Estonia in connection with a joint Estonian-U.S. Air Force training scheduled to begin on September, 22. On Tuesday and Wednesday necessary equipment was airlifted to Estonia also by Boeing 747-400F aircraft, which likewise had not landed at Amari before.
