Unique book of Skaryna virtually returned to Belarus


The National Library of Belarus received a digital copy of the publication “The First Book of Kings”, published by Frantsysk Skaryna in Prague in 1518. The original remains in the library of Trinity College, Cambridge.

According to Deputy Director of the National Library Ales Susha, who spoke to interfax.by, the Skaryna heritage in digital format was delivered to them with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and the Belarusian Embassy in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”152944″ img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]Trinity College Library in Cambridge. But today, every page, every word of the Belarusian enlightener is perceived as a national shrine. ”

Currently, negotiations are underway about possibilities and conditions of this edition for temporary display in the Museum of books of the National Library. But domestic researchers can already today discover this almost unreachable for them before book monument – albeit in digital format.
