UN: Over 4,700 killed in eastern Ukraine since April

From mid-April to 12 December, at least 4,707 people were killed and 10,322 wounded by fighting. Since the tenuous ceasefire began, at least 1,357 fatalities were recorded, the press service of the United Nations reports.

Ceasefire violations are reported daily even after a renewed commitment to the September ceasefire. Displacement is still on the rise and there is concern for civilian safety.

Moreover, the UN has recently reported that since March 2014, more than one million people have been displaced from the conflict-affected areas, including nearly 610,000 people within Ukraine as of December, 25. Over 593,000 fled to neighbouring countries as of 24 December.
