Ukrainians allowed to gather cranberries in Belarus

On September 3, the territory of Brest region was officially authorized for collecting and harvesting cranberries. That same day, three temporary crossing points “Poznan”, “Byarozavaye” and “Drozdyn” resumed work at the site of the Pinsk border detachment.

According to the State Border Committee, Ukrainian residents of border villages: Obsichi, Dubno, Poznan, Glinnoye, Khmel, Beryozovoie, Zabolotye, Grabun, Drozdyn, Staroye Selo will get a pass to the territory of the landscape reserve “Almanskiya baloty”.

Citizens of Ukraine have the right to gather Belarusian berries and mushrooms (from 5:00 to 22:00) only on the basis of permits issued in the Pinsk border detachment after a pre-submitted application. In addition, at the checkpoint, they need to present the proof of payment of the state fee (Br 210) for visiting the reserve.

Staying in the reserve without these documents will be considered a violation of border regulations.

From 1 July to 10 August, 32 Ukrainian border residents who came to the Belarusian woods were brought to administrative responsibility. In 11 cases the state border violators were punished by deportation with a ban of entry to Belarus for a term of one to five years.
