Ukraine to purchase weapons from UAE as West fails to provide it – MP

Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko and Colonel Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahyan,  the crown prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the UAE armed forces, have agreed to strengthen cooperation in energy, defense and agriculture.

Petro Poroshenko is visiting one of the biggest international defense exhibitions IDEX-2015 in Abu Dhabi.

The agreement on supplies of  ‘certain types of weapons and military equipment’ was reached at the negotiations,  Anton Gerashchenko, a Ukrainian MP and adviser of the Minister of Interior, states on Facebook.

Types and volumes of deliveries are not to be disclosed on Facebook, he said.

“Arabs, unlike Europeans and Americans, are not scared by Putin’s threats to unleash the third world war  in case of delivering arms and military equipment to Ukraine,” Gerashchenko stressed.

According to him, Arabs have their own scores to settle with Putin.

Meanwhile, the presidential press service has not confirmed the information on weapon supplies.

According to Gerashchenko, Europe practically put a covert embargo on supplying any weapons to Ukraine.

“The Czech republic which used to supply primers of cartridges but it has already withdrawn from the deal,” he said in an earlier Facebook post.

It is to be recalled that Czech President Milos Zeman is notorious for his support of Putin’s policy.

The U.S. provided Ukraine with only a few counterbattery stations, which could not save the situation, the MP stressed.

Ukraine is able to meet 30-40 % of their weapons and war technology needs; the rest should be purchased abroad. Meanwhile, Russia keeps supplying its militants in Donbas with tanks, armoured vehicles, multiple rocket launcher systems, artillery, Anton Gerashchenko stressed.
