Today Ukraine is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its independence.

Military vehicles and soldiers are parading through Ukraine’s main square as part of the country’s Independence Day events in a grand show of strength and national unity.

The residents of Ukrainian regional centers will be able to watch the parade on large screens installed in the main squares of their cities.

Moreover, all regions of Ukraine are expected to perform the national anthem at the same time.

After the parade there will be the March of Invincibles – a procession of people who have lost their relatives and friends during the Revolution of Dignity and military actions in eastern Ukraine.

The Act of Declaration of Independence of Ukraine was adopted by the Ukrainian parliament on 24 August 1991. The Act was adopted in the aftermath of the coup attempt on 19 August when hardline Communist leaders of the Soviet Union tried to restore central Communist party control over the USSR Since 1992, the 24th of August is celebrated in Ukraine as Independence Day.
