Belarus authorities seize opposition activist’s car (photos)

Minsk enforcement agents have seized a car of Zmitser Dashkevich, a Young Front leader and former political prisoner.

Dashkevich received no notice of the soon-to-be confiscation; it was his neighbors who informed him of a tow truck near the block of flats. The activist was told that the car was being seized on account of unpaid fines.

When the agents refused to show Dashkevich any order of confiscation, e got into the car and tried to drive off, but in vain. The traffic police got to the scene.

“I have come back to the flat, as the children were here. The car is being taken away. Enforcement agents blocked the road. Zmitser got into the car and is trying to leave,” his wife Nasta Dashkevich said on Facebook.

According to her, Zmitser Dashkevich keeps paying out the heavy fines imposed on him for taking part in protest actions, but he has not managed to pay them off.
