The book ‘All that is to be solved…’ by Russian writer Zakhar Prilepin is on offer in Svetach, a big bookstore in Minsk.

There is a picture of pro-Russian warlord ‘Motorola’ and separatist commander Alexander Zakharchenko on the cover.

Russian writer Zakhar Prilepin holds National Bolshevik views. Since 2015, Prilepin is an advisor to Zaharchenko, the leader of the unrecognised Donetsk republic, and an ardent adherent of the so-called ‘Novorossiya’. The popular Russian writer often travels to Donbas and then sings odes to ‘heroic militants’ and condemns ‘Kyiv junta’.

A few days ago, Russian citizen Arsen ‘Motorola’ Pavlov was killed by an improvised explosive device triggered in an elevator in the city of Donetsk which is under control of separatists. Donetsk. His associates suspect Ukraine’s reconnaissance groups to be behind the attack. But the 33-year-old’s death might have been a result of either an internal feud or Russia removing ‘inconvenient’ separatist leaders in the field.

Motorola’s unit is alleged to have tortured prisoners, and in one interview he said he had personally killed 15 Ukrainian POWs.
