Kids’ Language: First festival of Belarusian-language education in Homiel

Participating in the two-hour event held by Homiel branch of the Belarusian Language Society and Kids’ Language club, over 30 children aged from 2 to 10 lost themselves in the sea of the Belarusian language and culture.

The festival’s venue was divided into several parts: photographing and filming; making talisman dolls; exhibition of kids’ drawings; painting faces; songs, dances and self-made musical instruments.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”287453″ img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]“The Belarusian language will survive and come out of the ‘ghetto’ if our children speak it. Our classes are called ‘Kids’ Language’. We organize them in order to hear our children speaking the language. Many thanks to the parents who are supporting us, who entrusted us with their children’s instruction. Today’s festival is an alternative to the Belarusian-language education which our city can hardly boast of,” Alesya Aulasevich, Chairwoman of Homiel branch of the Belarusian Language Society, says.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”287425″ img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]”The festival is a space where one can hear native language. My being in love with the Belarusian language and culture is long-standing and, of course, I want to instill it in my son  Yahor. We have been attending the club since the very beginning of its existence, I am able and eager to speak Belarusian with my son,” Iryna Kuntsevich says.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”287473″ img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]The event ended with the performance of ethno-fantasy group Mlyn Sonca (The Sun’s Mill).[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”287461″ img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]
