Public transport fares to rise in Belarus

The cost of tickets for all kinds of public transport will rise before the end of the year. According to the sources from ‘Minsktrans,’ it is expected that the ticket price for one trip will rise in price by 5 kopecks.

This information was also confirmed by the “Brestoblavtotrans” director Ananiy Hvastsyuk.

“The issue of increasing the cost of transport fares by 5 kopecks is under discussion, but it has not yet been resolved. It will be decided on by the Ministry of Justice. We expect that in December we will raise fares, but the exact date is yet unknown. We need a bigger increase in tariffs, but a lot depends on the solvency of the population, therefore, the increase in fares is being held back,” said General Director of “Brestoblavtotrans” Ananiy Hvastsyuk.

According to him, in the regional centers, after the increase, it will be 45 kopecks.

In Minsk, authorities want to raise ticket prices for ground transportation and metro. Thus, the cost of the trip will be 55 kopeks, and for the subway — 60. At the same time, travel passes in the capital may rise in price by 5%. “Minsktrans” is also about to introduce 24 and 48-hour tickets.
