Poland’s delegation headed by Finance Minister arrives in Belarus


A Polish delegation is visiting Belarus.

Mateusz Morawiecki, Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and Development, is expected to be present at the opening of the 20th Belarusian-Polish economic forum Good Neighborliness, participate in the 4th meeting of the joint commission for economic cooperation and hold top level negotiations.

Poland is one of the main trade partners of Belarus. In 2015, the mutual trade reached about $2 bn.

Since 2007 Mateusz Morawiecki had served as chairman of Bank Zachodni WBK, but last year he resigned from the top positopn and became Deputy Prime Minister in the cabinet of Beata Szydło. In March 2016, he joined Law and Justice, a ruling party. Since September 28, the politician has been in charge of two national departments – Finance Ministry and Development Ministry.

As reported earlier, during October’s working visit to Poland, Belarus’ Foreign Minister Uladzimir Makey met with President Andrzej Duda and his Polish counterpart Witold Waszczykowski.
