Two days for extinguishing fire at Polymir chemical plant


Belarusian firefighters managed to put the fires at the Navapolatsk-based chemical manufacturer Polymir at 7:04 on 20 June.

At the moment, a special commission is working on the site. Its task is to estimate the damages and define how much time it will take to restore production capacities, the Emergencies Ministry reports. There is no threat to the workers and local residents.

The incident was reported on June 18: a blaze of gas mixture resulted in burning pyrogas products. When rescuers arrived at the scene, the flames were four meters high.

The fire damaged plant equipment, the process of polyethylene production stopped. No one was injured in the incident.

In late April, ethylene discharge occurred at Polymir; there were no victims either.
