Investigative Committee has opened a criminal investigation into the deaths of two children – 9 and 8 years old – in the Berazino area.
On the evening of March 23, a resident of the village Veshauka of Berazino district turned to police for help in finding her son and his friend.
During the inspection of the village and nearby area, the children’s bodies were found on a field adjacent to the village.
The investigation found that the three boys had been playing on the field near the village with an unknown object. As a result, there was an explosion – two boys died, and their third companion, born in 2005 – was injured and hospitalized.
He is out of danger, investigators are working with him. According to the description of the victim, they were playing with an object similar to a warhead from World War II.
Upon the death of children was opened a criminal case under part 2 of the article 144 (causing death by negligence to two persons) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. The accident scene is being checked, the shell fragments were removed, local residents and eyewitnesses of the incident are interrogated. A series of expert checks were appointed to determine the cause of the explosion and the type of the explosive device.
The investigation is under personal control of the first deputy chairman of the Investigation Committee Alyaksey Volkau.
