Trust in Russian state-run TV down by half - survey


In 2009, 79% of Russians put faith in national television.

By now, the number has slidden to 41%, interfax.ru reports with reference a recent survey of Levada Center.

The majority of Russians (85%) received information from television, but it is losing credibility as a source of information, the sociologists state.

According to the survey, 24% of respondents prefer to learn news from friends, relatives and neighbors, 21% – from online reports, 13% dig for information in social networks, newspapers and radio.

As far as television news are concerned, their primary audience has low income (90%) and do not use the Internet (95%).

Levada Analytical Center (Levada Center) is a Russian non-governmental research organization. The Centre regularly conducts sociological research. Levada-Center is one of the largest Russian centers in the field.
