Transparent ballot boxes to be set for presidential election in big cities

This was announced by the head of the Central Election Commission Lidziya Yarmoshyna to the reporters of tut.by.

She added that she “cannot guarantee the boxes will be installed everywhere, but there will be a lot”.

Earlier, the CEC said that the main reason why the transparent ballot boxes had not been put up during elections in Belarus was a lack of resources by local authorities.

It is expected that the presidential elections will be held in mid-November this year.

Opponents of the current president could not agree on a single candidate. At the moment, willingness to participate in the presidential race has been expressed by Anatol Lyabedzka, UCP Syarhei Haidukevich from LDP, Tell the Truth activist Tatstsiana Karatkevich, and Alyaksandr Lukashenka.

The movements For Freedom and the civil campaign Our Home refused to nominate their candidates.
