'Transneft' refuses to sign additional agreement on new oil transit tariff

The Russian company “Transneft” has refused to sign a supplementary agreement on the new tariff for oil transit through Belarus proposed by the Belarusian side.

The document was returned to the Belarusian side, without signature, since, according to the Russians, Belarus violates methodology harmonization of tariffs, said company spokesman Igor Demin.

The Belarusian Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade confirmed the holding of the Belarusian-Russian talks on oil transit.

“Consultations are under way with the Russian side at the ministerial level. After them agency representatives will give comments,” ministry spokesman Alina Hilevich told TASS.

Official representatives of “Transneft” and the press-secretary of the Ministry of Antimonopoly REgulation and Trade were not immediately available for comment.

On October 1, it was reported that Belarus will increase tariffs on oil transportation through oil mains of public companies “Gomeltransoil Friendship” and “Polotsktransneft Friendship”. Raising of tariffs is stipulated by the decision of the Ministry of Antimonopoly and Trade #30 as of 28 September. This decision has caused discontent of “Transneft” — the increase was unplanned.
