Trade friendship: Pakistan promises Belarus to empty its warehouses

Belarus needs new sales markets like air. It has to recoup the losses on the Eastern markets and empty the warehouses. Pakistan promised to help.Ways of cooperation were discussed during the three-day visit to Minsk of the Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The parties also announced the desired turnover figure – 1 billion dollars.

Yauhen Preiherman, Economist:

“We can raise it… it is the issue of competitiveness.”

The Belarusian government hopes to increase the supply of engineering products to the country. Pakistan with its GDP of more than $230 billion is one of the sales markets for Belarusian tractors outside the CIS. Over the past eight years, the volume of trade between Belarus and Pakistan ranged from fifty to one hundred and twenty million dollars a year. However, there is still little of economic logic in the union “of Belarus and Pakistan”.

Yauhen Preiherman, Economist:

“Sometimes you hear about the logic of Belarus officials:’the more population. the more profits.

Perhaps Pakistan can be called a prospective partner, just like ndeed all other countries that “are ready for dialogue.” CIS, the Old World, and to some extent Asia, as well as the Middle East have already been explored. That is why Belarus is seeking to go further, to more exotic countries. Lukashenka is enthusiastic about Ecuador. Before that, there were optimistic declarations about potential markets in the impoverished Zimbabwe. However, the figures are not impressive: most of these countries simply do not have the money for large purchases of Belarusian products, while the rest have an alternative.
