According to Belarusian rescuers, in last few days they managed to extinguished 8 forest fires and 14 fires in peatlands. As of 6:00 on June 14, there were three more active forest fires in the Homiel region.
The largest fire is in Khoiniki rayon (about 6 hectares). There are two forest fire beds in Lelchitsy rayon, the total area of these fires is 10 hectares.
The rescuers announced special meeting of staff and started moving fire fighting equipment to the problem areas. In Khoiniki rayon, three fire helicopters dropping water 75 times on the burning forest.
The Emergency Situations Ministry says that there is currently no threat to the population in the region.
