There will be no 'Minsk-3' - Poroshenko

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said that there’s no chance of the Minsk agreements being reconsidered, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

“I’d like to point it out: there is no and there will be no ‘Minsk-3.’ We have a complex of Minsk agreements, they are comprehensive, and the only thing to do to ensure peace in Ukraine is to observe them,” Poroshenko said at a joint press conference with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker in Brussels on Thursday.

The Minsk agreements provide for mutual cease-fire, withdrawal of heavy military equipment, release of hostages in Donbas, etc.

Meanwhile, pro-Russian separatists and representatives of Ukraine and the OSCE have found it necessary to cease mutual attacks from September, 1 on.

“The trilateral contact group views it vital and necessary to reach a total ceasefire on the contact line for the start of a new school year. The parties agreed to ascertain whether the initiative will have been implemented by 1 September,” said Martin Sajdik, OSCE special representative in the trilateral contact group on Ukraine.

On the night of August 26-27, Russian-backed artillery shelled sector “M” (the southern part of the front line). According to Ukrainian military, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have suffered serious losses.

Since the beginning of military operations in Donbas over 6,500 people, have been killed including a significant number of civilians.
